1. Opening your ebook
Downloading
After you place your order, you’ll receive an email with a download link. Click on this link to download your ebook.
Opening
The ebook is a PDF file that should open in all:
a) internet browsers
b) ereaders (for example, Kindle)
c) PDF readers (for example, Adobe Acrobat Reader DC)
Some internet browsers may not give full functionality, for example, not allowing you to double click to hear how the vocabulary sounds. In this situation, open the ebook with a PDF reader such as Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (free download).
2. Moving around the ebook
Contents
There is a Contents page on page 2 of every ebook. From here, you can see the main sections in the ebook.
Flashcard Shortcuts
There are also 3 Flashcard Shortcut pages that have links to all 90 flashcards in the ebook. You can go back to the Flashcard Shortcut pages from every flashcard by clicking on the ‘Day…’ button at the top left of the page.
3. How to study each flashcard
There are many ways that you could use the flashcards. However, we encourage you to spend around 5 minutes studying and practising each flashcard.
When studying the flashcard, try to:
1) Read the flashcard and try to understand the meaning, how to use it grammatically, how to say it.
2) Practise saying the language (you can hear it first by double-clicking on the 'ear' icon).
3) Practice writing your own sentences using the language.
Frequently asked questions
How can I listen to the sounds?
Double-click on the 'ear' icon.
This may not work if you are viewing the ebook from your internet browser (e.g. Safari, Internet Explorer). In this situation, open the ebook with a PDF reader such as Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (free download).
How can I order new editions of IN THE LOOP?
At the moment, only the Wood edition has been released. New editions will all become available from this page.

Getting started
1. My Courses
After ordering, you’ll receive an email with your log-in details and a link to the My Courses page.
From this page, you can see:
- your profile details (update these by going to: My Account -> Account details)
- the courses you are registered to, including any certificates you have earnt
Click on the course you want to study and you’ll be taken to the Main Course Page.
2. Course page
After clicking on your course from the My Courses page, you’ll be taken to the main page for your course – this will have the title of course at the top: for example, ‘Meeting Essentials’.
On this page, you can see:
- course details
- your course end date
- a personal message
- course contents
Click on the RESUME button or a link from the Contents to begin studying.
3. Course structure
A course includes several lessons
Each lesson is based on a work task (for example, ‘asking polite questions’).
A lesson includes several activities
These activities include: Conversation, Language, Pronunciation, Speaking, Memory, Culture, Worksheet, Challenge, Next Steps.
Once you have completed an activity, click the button at the bottom to update your course progress.
An activity includes several exercises
Some exercises ask you to watch videos, read articles or listen and pronounce language. Others ask you to match vocabulary, complete the gaps in sentences, re-order sentences and so on.
4. Completion certificates
When you reach 100% course progress, you see a ‘Print your certificate’ button on the main course page.
You will also see a certificate icon on your My Courses page, which you can click to download your certificate even after your course end date.
Frequently asked questions
How can I download/upload my recording?
When downloading and uploading your speaking recordings, we recommend using a computer or Apple Mac with one of these browsers: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari.
How can I read what is said in the videos?
You can turn on the subtitles of any video by clicking on the CC icon at the bottom of the video and selecting English.
How can I book the live training session?
When you reach lesson 6 of the course, you'll see an activity called 'Book live session'. You can use this to see all available times and choose one that is suitable for you. This option is only available with the Pro Package.
What do I need for the live training session?
1. A quiet room - This will make it easier to hear each other.
2. A computer/Mac - I'll be sharing my screen with you so it's best if you use something with a large screen so you can see everything.
3. An internet connection - Try to use a room with a good, stable connection.
How can I download my completion certificate?
If you complete the course before it expires (within 12 weeks), then you'll see a certificate icon next to the course title on the My Courses page. Click this to download your certificate.
